At the Chambers Center for Well Being, we offer different techniques and approaches to effectively influence mood, behavior and consciousness. When you are physically or emotionally stressed, your body releases stress hormones. Stress can result in headaches, insomnia, palpitations, heart disease, memory loss, muscle spasms, high blood pressure, diabetes and stomach pain, and can also cause weight gain and osteoporosis.
One goal of our approach is to promote relaxation and reduce the levels of stress hormones. The key to our holistic services is to "train" the mind. We offer the following stress reduction services:
HeartMath Stress Evaluation
By analyzing heart rhythms using an EmWave instrument, participants see their heart rhythms change in real time as they shift from stressful to positive emotions.
Holistic Health Assessments
When you are exposed to long periods of stress, your body gives you warning signs that something is wrong, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or depression. Our holistic health assessment offers a starting point in assisting you with improving your physical and mental health. Our team assesses your needs and provides education on a variety of integrative treatments and their benefits. You will learn stress management and relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, healing imagery and self-help tools that can restore harmony and relieve symptoms.
Prepare for Surgery
Our holistic nurse will lead you through a guided imagery audio program by Belleruth Naparstek, a psychotherapist and pioneer in the field of guided imagery and wellness. Guided imagery is a gentle, powerful technique that focuses and directs the imagination. Participants learn breathing exercises and self-help tools to reduce stress prior to and after surgery for a smoother recuperation.
Stress Reduction Sessions
Meet with a holistic nurse to learn and practice ways to induce the relaxation response. The nurse will then teach you self-help techniques that meet your individual needs and offer ways to incorporate these techniques into your lifestyle.
Wellness Coaches at the Chambers Center for Well Being will guide you to health by setting up a foundation for growth and change based on your strengths, values and goals. Being in a coaching relationship helps you navigate health and wellness challenges that may feel insurmountable. Challenges are broken down into smaller and more manageable pieces. Coaching is not psychotherapy, but it can be therapeutic.
Whether you are looking to improve your diet, enhance your fitness regimen, improve time management skills or bring yourself stress relief, our certified coaches will help you create new habits and achieve your personal goals.
The wellness coaching process typically involves the following:
- Setting attainable wellness goals
