Massage Therapy

Massage is the therapeutic practice of manipulating the muscles and limbs to ease tension and reduce pain. This form of natural healing is utilized for relaxation and stress management. Massage improves muscle tone, enhances flexibility, promotes circulation and improves immune function.

Our massage therapists are state licensed and certified in their specialties. Your therapist will assess your needs and suggest a treatment and follow-up plan. The following brief descriptions outline the types of massage treatments and services offered at the Chambers Center for Well Being.

Specialty Massages

Aromatherapy Massage

Your therapist will help you select an essential oil for your individual needs to enhance your massage experience.

Craniosacral Therapy

In a craniosacral therapy session*, your therapist will assess your individual needs. Through a process that uses gentle palpation, the therapist releases restrictions in your craniosacral system, made of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding and protecting the brain and spinal cord. Craniosacral therapy has been used to treat headache, sinus congestion, TMJ pain, low back pain, stress-related digestive distress, premenstrual pain and constipation.

*Clients who have experienced concussion, stroke or surgery will need to obtain a doctor’s release.

Craniosacral Massage Therapy for Children

Pediatric craniosacral massage* uses gentle and specific touch to release restrictions in the craniosacral system. Parents are involved in the session and are shown how to continue the benefits of the treatments at home. Case studies have shown that after only one session a child can achieve benefits such as calmness, better sleeping, improved nursing, improved swallowing reflex and digestion. This therapy has been found to enhance one’s ability to focus and to improve neurosensory faculties.

*For children with specific needs. Therapists do not diagnose conditions, but follow pediatrician’s directives.

Myofascial Release Therapy

Myofascial release provides stretching, compression and sustained pressure into restricted areas of fascia (connective tissue) in the body to reduce pain and restore mobility. It is a form of structural body work, which works on the body as a whole to allow the fascial system to return to its correct position, length and function.
